This
is an extremely frustrating product to work with through TWAIN,
and we strongly recommend that you avoid it. In addition
to numerous detailed violations of the TWAIN standard, we have noted
the following:
When enabled without its user interface, the latest driver (as of
April 16 2004) runs the feeder in reverse, making it impossible
to scan. With the Visioneer user interface, it closes automatically
after one page.
If the user inserts a document before the TWAIN driver is enabled,
something called OneTouch scanning is activated, superceding the
TWAIN process. On the other hand, if the user does not insert a
document before clicking the Scan button, the driver displays a
highly inappropriate error message.
During preparation of this article, the XP 200 driver locked up
at 36% of a scan, requiring a reboot of Windows XP.
Developers have reported that in previous versions of the driver,
no-UI scanning is possible, but the brightness and contrast parameters
have no effect. |
