revised 2007.03.11

Dear Customer or Visitor:

Dosadi respects your privacy. We will never distribute, rent, or sell, to third parties, personal information that we collect about our customers or website visitors. We will never redistribute to other parties any customer or visitor information that we obtain from our vendors and service providors (more details below.) We take the same precautions to secure such information as we take to protect other essential proprietary information of our business.

Please address questions or comments about this policy to:

The following sections describe specific areas of privacy policy, the final section discusses important exceptions.

Website - General

If you browse the www.dosadi.com or www.eztwain.com website, we (through our hosting company) collect the customary web server log information; time, date, IP address, user agent, screen resolution. Please note that this information does not include your name, e-mail, or other personal information. We usually employ Google Analytics or a similar service to record the referer and your path through our website, and to aggregate and analyze the behavior of visitors to our website. We do not permanently store any individual visitor information, share it with any other third party, or attach it to any other information we may obtain from you. Our website may place one or more cookies on your computer when you visit our website. These cookies are not used for any nefarious purpose. We collect and use this information to make your visits to our website more convenient for you, and to help us serve you better and of course, to improve and expand our business.

Website - Forums

If you register for our forums (www.dosadi.com/forums) we store the information you provide in a database on our webserver, and occasionally back up that data and potentially restore it. Some of that information, such as your forum name, is made public on the forum and therefore its use is not under our control. We collect this information to make your use of our forum more productive for you, and to allow us to manage the forum consistently with our business needs. From time to time we may send you e-mail related to your business with us, using the e-mail address you provide during forum registration. We make no other use of your forum registration information. Any posts you make on our forum are public! You should assume they may persist forever. Any private messages you send to the forum administrator or to a Dosadi staff member are treated as e-mail to Dosadi, see E-mail below.

E-mail

E-mail sent to an address @dosadi.com or @eztwain.com becomes our property to use as we see fit. However, it is our policy to keep such e-mails confidential unless you explicitly permit us to do otherwise. Out of respect to our customers, we do not disclose the text, content, origin, or subject of e-mails, except for generalities along the lines of "another customer has asked us about that" or "we have another customer using a Q404". We do not believe that any 3rd party should know the names of our customers, or the nature of their technical activities or problems. We may and probably will retain your e-mails indefinitely, and we may use this information to contact you at any later time, but only for business purposes. Please note that e-mails are generally sent in clear over the Internet and therefore are inherently insecure in transit.

Ordering/Purchasing

All of our sales are handled by software retailers, currently RegSoft.com and Plimus. When you place an order with them for one of our products, they share with us your name, your contact information, the method used to place your order (web, phone, etc.) and other information necessary for us to contact you, and to prepare and deliver your license. Your license information, including license keys, serial numbers and similar, are known to us and are stored by us. The registration services do not share with us your credit card or banking information. While we cannot control their policies or practices, we do carefully select our vendors and trust is a primary factor.

Plimus privacy statement.

Our Software

All of our products are software programs meant to be installed on our customers' computers, and that software may be redistributed, in whole or in part to other computers. Our software is designed never to transmit information it is managing unless it is commanded to do so through a documented programmatic interface, or is instructed or permitted to do so by a user/operator through a user interface element which clearly explains itself. Our software components will never present such a user interface element to a user/operator unless commanded to do so through a documented programmatic interface. Note that our documentation and user interfaces are generally presented only in American English.

Our software writes information to the local filesystem in only five cases:
1. When directed by user or programmatic command such as a Save command or a SaveToFile function.
2. To record a diagnostic log at user or programmer request, see note below.
3. To create small licensing files, or modify the date and time of our files.
4. During certain operations, to create a data or image file in the Windows Temp directory. Our software makes a best effort to delete any such file as soon as it is no longer needed.
5. During installation, to copy our files to the target system and register them.

Note: Our diagnostic logs may contain sensitive information such as the computer name, computer owner, calling application, operating system version, text of strings written to files, and the text of recognized barcodes and OCR'd text. It is your responsibility to redact any log files before transmitting them.

Our software creates no hidden processes when installed or run, and modifies no system files except to make entries in the Registry which are customary for such software. We continuously run anti-virus and anti-spyware on all of our computers, to ensure that the software packages we distribute contain no spyware or other maliciously introduced elements.

Exceptions

Notwithstanding the preceding we may violate the rules above under certain circumstances:
1. If we receive communications from several apparently different persons and a reasonable person would conclude that these people are working together and are in communication with each other (e.g. they introduce each other by name and e-mail address, or e-mail from the same domain and sign with the same company name), we will assume that they are in fact working together and sharing information in the usual way, and will share information with them accordingly.
2. If we contact you electronically or otherwise and obtain your permission to use your information in a specific way.

3. If we are compelled legally or by force or threat of force, or if we believe there is a threat to life or property of others which substantially outweighs the potential harm.
4. If, despite our thorough and responsible precautions, our systems and procedures are 'hacked' or otherwise abused in a way that circumvents our precautions.
