CTwain
vs. EZTwain
CTwain
is best suited for applications where the user initiates
image acquisition, and the application wants to have relatively
little responsibility for the details. The classic examples
of this kind of application are image editors and graphic
design programs such as: Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft FrontPage,
CorelDraw, etc. CTwain is organized to support a user-driven
scanning model, with the application controlling a few basic
scanning parameters such as resolution and color depth.

CTwain
is probably not suitable for applications where precise sequential
control of scanning is required, where the application chooses when
and how scanning will take place, how many images will be scanned,
etc. We recommend EZTwain Pro for
such applications.
EZTwain
Pro offers more built-in file formats, far more comprehensive capability-negotiation
features, region-of-interest setting, ADF control, and a variety
of other features for applications that want to use more of the
TWAIN API.
